Make the Most of Your Advising Session
Advising can be the key to not only preventing your education from flying off the rails, but graduating as soon as possible. Make sure you小蝌蚪APP檙e making the most of advising with these preparations.
Complete orientation
If you're just beginning your journey as an online student, our online student orientation offers resources, tips, and instructions specifically for those taking online courses and can be a lifesaver for those new to the environment.
Similar to face-to-face students, online students will find an advising hold placed on their accounts until they小蝌蚪APP檝e completed orientation.
Make contact with your advisor
Make sure you know who your advisor is, how they小蝌蚪APP檒l alert students to available advising appointments, and what options will be available for taking those appointments well before regular advising periods. You can find your advisor小蝌蚪APP檚 information on the Academics Tab - Academic Profile section of .
Make your appointment
Check the for advising dates and set a calendar reminder to check in with your advisor when advising nears to set a meeting time ahead of 小蝌蚪APP渁dvising season.小蝌蚪APP
Make sure to ask what information will be needed for your appointment so that you can make the most of your time with your advisor.
Check for preferred classes
Look at the Schedule of Classes through ULink to see what is available for the upcoming semester. On the Registration tab, scroll down to the heading Register for Classes and select Look up Classes.
Also from Registration, you can check in with DegreeWorks to see what classes you need next. Based on that plan, make a list of 5-7 courses you小蝌蚪APP檙e interested in.
Ask questions
This isn小蝌蚪APP檛 the time to let your reserved side have the driver小蝌蚪APP檚 seat.
Whether you小蝌蚪APP檙e communicating with your advisor by email, web conference, or phone, have questions, ideas, and concerns ready. Your advisor will help guide your journey, but you小蝌蚪APP檙e the conductor here so make sure you know where you want to land.
Register for classes
Once you小蝌蚪APP檙e advised, check under the Registration tab in ULink for your registration appointment for when you can register for classes. It小蝌蚪APP檚 important to act as soon as you小蝌蚪APP檙e able to ensure you小蝌蚪APP檙e able to register for the courses you need to progress through your program in a timely manner.
