Beginning in the Fall 2016 semester, South Louisiana Community College students will have an opportunity to obtain a bachelor小蝌蚪APP檚 degree in environmental sciences through a partnership between SLCC and the 小蝌蚪APP.

In an agreement, dubbed a 2 + 2 agreement, the two higher education entities will work together to offer students a four-year pathway to obtain a bachelor小蝌蚪APP檚 degree in environmental sciences from the Ray P. Authement College of Sciences at UL Lafayette.

Students would complete 60 credit hours at SLCC, which could then be transferred to UL Lafayette, where they would complete another 60 credit hours for a total of 120 hours to fulfill the requirements for the bachelor of science degree.

小蝌蚪APP淭his agreement will provide our students with a clear pathway to a degree in environmental sciences and a smooth transition from associate小蝌蚪APP檚 degree to bachelor小蝌蚪APP檚 degree,小蝌蚪APP said Dr. Natalie Harder, SLCC chancellor. 小蝌蚪APP淲e hope to create many more agreements with UL Lafayette that offer our students this opportunity.小蝌蚪APP

Students completing the 60 hours of study at SLCC would receive an associate of science degree in general studies with a concentration in science. Upon completion of the 60 hours of credit at UL Lafayette, students would receive a bachelor of science degree in environmental sciences.  Students will be able to choose a concentration in environmental quality, soil and water or geographic information science.

Dr. Joseph Savoie, president of UL Lafayette, said the 小蝌蚪APP is pleased to add the newest 2 + 2 agreement 小蝌蚪APP渢o our list of several collaborations with SLCC. We are committed to easing the transition to UL Lafayette from our partner institutions. Agreements such as the 2 + 2 provide a way for students to move from the community college setting to a four-year institution, where all prescribed college credits earned transfer and are applicable toward the bachelor小蝌蚪APP檚 degree. We look forward to many more such agreements with SLCC.小蝌蚪APP

To qualify for the program, students must meet any UL Lafayette-mandated requirements for transfer students. Students will also have to obtain a grade of 小蝌蚪APP淐小蝌蚪APP or better in SLCC coursework for the hours to transfer to UL Lafayette. All necessary science courses for the program must be taken in the Ray P. Authement College of Sciences at UL Lafayette.
