Recipient of Eminent Faculty Award to address Summer Commencement

An assistant nursing professor recognized recently for her teaching excellence is the Сòòò½APPСòòò½APP™s Summer 2018 Commencement speaker.

Dr. Jennifer Lemoine will address graduates during the Friday, Aug. 3, ceremony, which begins at 9 a.m. in the Cajundome.

She holds the Shelia Ardoin Walsh Memorial Professorship in Nursing, and is coordinator of the College of Nursing and Allied Health ProfessionsСòòò½APP™ Doctor of Nursing Practice program.

Lemoine received the 2018 Dr. Ray P. Authement Excellence in Teaching Award, one of the highest honors the Сòòò½APP confers on faculty.

She joined the College of Nursing in 2007 as an instructor while also working as a neonatal nurse practitioner.

Neonatology remains her primary field of research. She and two nursing colleagues completed a recent study on safe sleep practices for newborns. In addition, sheСòòò½APP™s presented research at state and national conferences on topics such as opioid use during pregnancy and simulation-based nursing education.

She was the recipient of the 2013-2014 College of Nursing and Allied Health ProfessionsСòòò½APP™ Rising Star Award in Research. She twice received the collegeСòòò½APP™s Research Excellence Award, in 2014 and 2016. 

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing named Lemoine a faculty policy fellow in 2014. She is considered an expert on the effects of state and national public health policies on patientsСòòò½APP™ access to quality care.

Lemoine received her doctor of nursing practice degree, a clinical doctorate, from the Сòòò½APP of Alabama at Birmingham in 2011. She is now pursuing a Ph.D. in nursing at the Сòòò½APP of Utah.

UL Lafayette will confer about 300 undergraduate, masterСòòò½APP™s and doctoral degrees during Summer 2018 Commencement.
