Student-athletes set record for highest combined GPA

Louisiana RaginСòòò½APP™ Cajuns student-athletes set a school record by achieving a combined 3.056 grade point average for Fall 2014, led by 32 student-athletes who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.

About 58 percent of UL LafayetteСòòò½APP™s 409 student-athletes earned a 3.0 or higher for the fall term. It was the ninth straight semester that Louisiana student-athletes had a combined 2.8 GPA or above. The previous record of 2.993 was set for the Spring 2014 term.

The numbers were compiled by the UL Lafayette Student-Athlete Academic Center, which coordinates the academic progress of all RaginСòòò½APP™ Cajun student-athletes. The center has tracked student-athletes academic performance since 1982.

Nineteen student-athletes completed their degree requirements during the Fall 2014 term and graduated in December.

"I am extremely proud of these young men and women in achieving this goal of excelling in the classroom at the same time that they are excelling athletically," said Scott Farmer, director of athletics.

MenСòòò½APP™s tennis led all sports with a 3.5 GPA for the Fall 2014 semester

Sports that had a team GPA of at least 3.0 are:

Сòòò½APP¢ volleyball, 3.094; and
Сòòò½APP¢ womenСòòò½APP™s track and field, 3.009

The menСòòò½APP™s tennis teamСòòò½APP™s 3.5 GPA was its highest ever.

The football team, with a combined 2.923 GPA, and menСòòò½APP™s track and field team, with a combined 2.829 GPA, were also the highest ever for those two sports.
